Colocation Data Center Space Expands, at Colo4Dallas

Dallas, Texas - Web Hosting News - July 7, 2008 - Colocation and managed service provider, Colo4Dallas, has purchased two buildings and engaged in the lease of another nearby building, from Level 3 Communications.

The transactions bring the company’s total colocation space to approximately 106,000 square feet. Colo4Dallas completed the purchase of both its current headquarters at 3000 Irving Boulevard and the property situated immediately adjacent to it, 3004 Irving Boulevard, in early May. Construction has already started to seamlessly integrate the two adjoining buildings. When complete, Colo4Dallas’ expanded flagship facility will include over 68,000 square feet of raised floor, state-of-the-art data center space.

Paul VanMeter, President and Chief Technology Officer of Colo4Dallas remarked, ”What’s unique about Colo4Dallas is that we’re able to meet the tremendous space and power needs of large enterprise customers who have their own technical staff, but also those of smaller customers who rely on us for 24/7 remote hands support. Additionally, in March, Colo4Dallas leased 38,000 square feet within the Level 3 data center located in the Stemmons Corridor. Mr. VanMeter points to increasing demand for dependable, high quality data center space as the driving force behind the recent expansions, noting ”Many of our new customers outgrew their previous data center’s power and space capacities - they are coming from facilities that weren’t designed to handle high density power applications. Mr. VanMeter has seen a particular spike in enterprise customers who require large footprints and high density power and cooling capabilities.

With data center space in high demand, contracts for space are already being placed as the new locations undergo a comprehensive finish-out to ensure the highest standards in security, redundant power and environmental controls. Colo4Dallas will handle secure access to the Level 3 building as well as maintain 24 hour monitoring to ensure uninterrupted power and connectivity. VanMeter noted, ”We’re expecting customers who will require a large footprint and high wattage per square foot, and this facility will easily meet and exceed their needs.” The Level 3 facility at 3439 Irving Boulevard was an ideal location for Colo4Dallas because like the company’s other facilities, the building was single story, centrally located, and capable of handling high density power.
